This policy explains what personal data LanWarp processes when you use the app, the relays, the website and the Discord bot, and what your rights are under the GDPR.
Who is responsible
The controller is [COMPANY NAME], [POSTAL ADDRESS], [CONTACT EMAIL].
Data we process
Your account
- Your email address, or the ID and email address that Discord or Google give us when you sign in with them.
- The date you confirmed you are at least 14 years old and accepted the terms, and the version of the terms.
- Your plan, its end date and, if it happens, a suspension and its end date.
Why: to give you an account and the service you asked for (contract). Kept until you delete the account.
Your servers
- Server names, addresses, zone, the second line in the server list, creation date and last use.
- Events the app sends: when a server starts and when the first player joins it.
- The settings the relay needs, such as the player limit of your plan.
Why: to run the service (contract). Kept until you delete the server or the account.
IP addresses of hosts
We record the IP address you use when the app or the website talks to our backend, and when the app connects to a relay.
Why: security and preventing abuse (legitimate interest). Deleted 60 days after we last saw that address.
Players who join a server
Each relay keeps a log of connections: the player’s IP address, the Minecraft name the player sends, the server joined, the times and the amount of data.
Why: security and preventing abuse (legitimate interest). Kept for 60 days, then deleted.
The relays also count joins by country, worked out from the IP address with a local database, and estimate the number of distinct players with a counter that can’t be turned back into names. Only the totals reach our backend, never the IP addresses or the names.
Cloud backups
On Plus and Pro, the backups you upload: the world, the player lists, the server settings and LanWarp’s settings for that server. They are stored with Cloudflare R2 in the European Union.
Why: the service you asked for (contract). Kept until you replace them, remove them or delete the server or account; 30 days after a paid plan ends.
Discord
If you add the LanWarp bot to a Discord server we store the IDs of the Discord server, the channel and the trusted role you chose, the language of the messages, your Discord ID to mention you, and the IDs of members who press “Notify me when it opens” or ask to join the whitelist, with their Discord name and the Minecraft name they type. The bot doesn’t read or store chat messages. Details are in the bot’s privacy policy.
Why: to run the bot (contract). Deleted when you disconnect the bot.
“Playing LanWarp” on your Discord profile goes from the app to the Discord app on your PC. It doesn’t pass through our servers.
Crash reports
Only if you allow it in the app, error reports go to Sentry, in the European Union. Personal data is removed before sending, and the logs of your Minecraft server are never included.
Why: your consent. You can turn it off in the app at any time.
Emails
We send sign-in codes and messages about your account, such as the notice before a cloud backup is deleted, through Resend.
Reports
When you report a server we receive the server address, your message, your email if you give it, and the IP address you used, to limit repeated reports. The form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to block automated reports.
Why: handling reports and our obligations under the EU Digital Services Act (legal obligation and legitimate interest). Kept for [REPORT RETENTION PERIOD].
The website
The website uses no cookies, no advertising and no third-party tracking, and stores nothing on your device to measure visits.
To see how the site is used, each page tells our backend which page you opened, the site you came from (only its domain), the campaign code or server link code in the address if there is one, how long you stayed on the page, and clicks on the download button and on links to other sites. Your country comes from the network; the type of device, browser and operating system come from what your browser sends with every request.
We don’t store your IP address. To count unique visitors, we combine your IP address and browser details with a key that changes every day and keep only the result, so we can’t recognize you on another day.
Why: understanding how the website is used and improving it (legitimate interest). Single visits are deleted after 90 days; daily totals, such as the number of visitors on a day, are kept.
If you sign in at lanwarp.com/account, your browser stores your sign-in session until you sign out.
Downloads from other publishers
When you create a server, the app on your PC downloads files directly from their publishers: Mojang, PaperMC, Adoptium (Java), Modrinth (plugins and modpacks), FabricMC and NeoForged. These publishers see your IP address under their own privacy policies.
Who receives data
We use these providers to run LanWarp. They process data on our behalf:
- Supabase: database and sign-in (European Union);
- Cloudflare: DNS, the connection to our backend, cloud backups, the report form check and website hosting;
- Hetzner: the backend server (Germany);
- Aruba: the relay in Italy;
- OVHcloud: the relays in the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Spain, Poland, Canada, the United States and Australia;
- Sentry: crash reports, only with your consent (European Union);
- Resend: emails;
- Microsoft: our email inbox, when you write to us;
- [PAYMENT RESELLER]: payments, once paid plans are on sale;
- Discord and Google: only if you sign in with them or use the bot.
Transfers outside the EU
Players’ connections pass through the relay of the server’s zone, which can be outside the European Union. Some providers are based outside the EU. Where needed, transfers rely on an adequacy decision or on the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses. [TRANSFER DETAILS TO BE CHECKED BY A LAWYER]
Your rights
You can ask to access, correct, delete or export your data, to restrict its use, or object to it. Write to [CONTACT EMAIL].
- Export: “Download my data” on lanwarp.com/account gives you your data as a file.
- Deletion: “Delete account” on lanwarp.com/account, or in the app.
You can also complain to a data protection authority, for example [SUPERVISORY AUTHORITY].
Children
LanWarp is for people aged 14 and over. If you think a child under 14 has an account, write to [CONTACT EMAIL] and we will delete it.
Changes
We will tell you about important changes in the app or by email. The version and date at the top of this page show the current version.
